Rainbow Valley Community is an intentional community in the Anatoki Valley, Golden Bay, about 11 kilometres from Tākaka, bordering Kahurangi National Park. Founded in 1974, it is based on shared land, community events, cooperative participation and non-violence. The community farms its land and grows food in community gardens. It also operates Rainbow Backpackers, offering budget accommodation and a small campsite for tents and campervans, closed annually from May to October.
I cannot begin to describe how precious this time was for me. Thank you all for the open, sensitive, unique conversations and for being you! Thank you to the valley for the protective hand it holds over this place. Thank you to the river and waterfall for their clarifying, powerful presence! I would especially like to thank Jock, Pia, Robert, and Gordon; they made this stay truly special! I wish this place all the best and will never forget this time. See you soon! Lovely community, you can volunteer there or just stay a few nights on their campground. It’s a little piece of paradise! 🌻🌱🌞

What an experience with you! It took me a while to write a review, but it’s never too late! Every person I met at the Rainbow was a fascinating experience. Thanks to you, I have grown a lot, and those on several levels:) Thank you to my lovely Pia for welcoming me into this lovely house, where I could enjoy delicious homemade beers, admiring the stars, and philosophizing about life and the world. Thanks to Anne and Robert for these wonderful moments shared around sumptuous dinners with Romain, Beth and Marcel Jock, incredible and atypical meeting that I’ll never forget! To these pottery workshops, to these night chess games, to these walks through the woods ... It was outstanding!!! Carol&Simon and Bill&Robyn, idem exquisite moments around these meals, beautiful discussions, warm welcome, thank you very much! To all those with whom I couldn’t have had more affinity, it’s only a postponement! What you have created is splendid. Thank you to all the people I’ve been able to meet in the Golden Bay. Now, I have faith in humanity and I know that there is always hope, but we have to fight for that! Anyway, life is beautiful thanks to the love we give to each other. Love xxx

Take me to the rainbow...in the valley Take me to the rainbow...hidden in the hills One of the most beautiful places I have ever been before. Lovely views, fresh air and the best Water. The people living there, living the dream. All they need is in front...>>>you only need to see and feel it, everyday:-) I Had some wise talks and I learned "There are no Limits" -> this changed my life ,but my best experience was to spend time at "Pia´s House". She brews her own beer with a bavarian touch, a perfect mixture of NewZealand and Germany. I really appreciate the weeks with Pia and her lovely friends:-) "Cool, calm and collected" and every day smiling, because " laughter is the best medicine". I know that I will come back to visit the community, I miss the taste of that little pice of earth:-) You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope some day you'll join us And the world will be as one J.Lennon
