Farewell Spit Eco Tours

This is a fantastic tour from start to finish. We were staying at Pakawau, & they picked us up on the way. Allan, our driver, was full of great knowledge & information & made it easy to listen to with his conversational delivery. We had checked that we had light winds & fine weather ensuring we were able to fully enjoy the trip. We had to check our budget to make it possible, but would highly recommend the tour to the lighthouse.

Unique experience and well-organized tour with knowledgeable guides. The scenery and wildlife are impressive, but it’s a long day and a bit pricey. Worth it if you’re in the area.

Our family of six included a 4 year old who loves birds. His highlight was seeing the spoonbill and the dunes. Excellent tour with Allan who was very knowledgeable on the birds we saw, the history of the area and the Māori history. Lots of stops for photos and the six hours went quickly. The whole experience was excellent from booking with Shelley to travelling with Allan in our bus Spit 1. Definitely recommended

Great scenery, outstanding competent and interesting guides, fabulous wildlife to watch, phenomenal and unique landscape, however the 4x4 buses are packed, uncomfortable, not roomy at all, and middle seats have a very poor view.

A fabulous 6.5 hour return journey to an amazing environment , treated to a wealth of knowledge from our guide Allan, came away with a new appreciation of this part of NZ.
