Gold Hunting Adventures runs day trips to local gold fossicking areas and a working gold claim near Tākaka, for groups ranging from families to experienced prospectors. Guides teach participants how and where to find gold nuggets using gold pans, sluice boxes and detectors. Experienced guides also cover safety practices for working in and around New Zealand rivers.

My wife and I did the advanced course with Steve and couldn’t recommend it enough! Whether you’re brand new to prospecting or experienced, Steve is an amazing teacher and provides a really balanced course including metal detecting, sluicing, crevicing, and panning. The price is very reasonable given the amount of info and hands on experience provided. Didn’t hurt that we also found quite a bit of gold too! 10/10

Steve was great. We went with two kids to the gold hunting experience. It was real nice. He is an awesome man. Very patient with children.
