Golden Bay Museum
About
Golden Bay Museum is an Incorporated Society and registered charity in Tākaka, Golden Bay/Mohua. Its exhibition building, designed by Wellington architect James Beard, opened on 15 October 1990. Permanent displays cover the region's industrial past, including flax, timber, gold, cement and coal, alongside exhibits on Abel Tasman's 1642 voyage. Open Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm.

Really cool little museum, donation/koha for entry. Has great info about the areas history. Even had a cool video playing showing the old mining and bustling community of old. The lady was great answering my questions and I Even learnt some new things about the history of golden bay and Abel tasman

Really nice little museum. Everything is well laid out with some superb models. Well worth an hour. There's lots of info on coal mining, whaling and other mineral resources for those that are interested.

Small place but very nice stuff inside their takes you back to the Captain Cook days but yeah good as gold
