A truly unforgettable five-star experience set in a peaceful, breathtaking landscape. What makes this place so special is not just the setting, but the story behind it—Marianne and René, a couple from Holland, left city life years ago to build a small farm and, as they beautifully say, “farm with their heart.” They keep only the number of cows that allows them to live a happy, balanced life, and you can feel that philosophy in every detail of your stay. The breakfast was, without exaggeration, the best we’ve ever had. Everything is homemade and incredibly fresh—milk straight from their cows, their own butter and yogurt, freshly squeezed juices each morning, and warm, homemade bread. Every bite felt like a revelation. One evening, after a long day of hiking, we had their pizza, topped with mozzarella made from their own milk—absolutely delicious and a must-try. The entire place is impeccable. The attention to detail is extraordinary—everything is spotless, comfortable, warm, and thoughtfully designed to give you a deep sense of privacy and calm. More than a stay, this is an experience rooted in authenticity, care, and a genuine love for life.

A truly fantastic five-star experience in a stunning, peaceful setting. Marianne and René are exceptional hosts who offer genuine authenticity and warmth. The food was a revelation—packed with delicious homemade delicacies. The recommendations for the nearby highlights were spot-on. Located near the charming town of Takaka, this stay is a perfect retreat.

Wow...what a truly wonderful stay I had at Golden Caves Bed & Breakfast. Although I arrived early in the evening, I still received a warm welcome from René, the owner. How nice to be able to communicate in your own language when you realize the B&B is run by Dutch people. Since I was the only guest, as the season had only just begun, I was allowed to use all the facilities on the property, such as the sauna and hot tub. For relaxation, this is definitely recommended. I can describe the room as very clean and spacious, as is the bathroom, which is fully equipped. What I particularly appreciated was being asked what I would like for breakfast. I'm happy with simple toast and tea, but I told them I'd like a surprise. And every morning was a new surprise. Especially the fact that René and Marianne prepare many of the breakfast items. Combined with a pleasant conversation, the breakfast was top-notch. If you enjoy peace and quiet in the evenings, this B&B is the perfect place for you. It's located 10 minutes from the town of Takaka and is slightly off the main road. From the B&B, I had a wonderful day exploring Abel Tasman National Park and will never forget my time at Wharariki Beach. My stay at the B&B was quite a change from all the hotels I've stayed in. For a tour of New Zealand, this accommodation is a wonderful addition. Definitely worth it. Wow...what a truly wonderful stay I had at Golden Caves Bed & Breakfast. Fantastic experience. Super location in beautiful and quiet surroundings. Unique host couple. Rene gave us a wonderful tour of the farm and told us good stories from real life. We got an experience of authenticity with Marianne and René - very dedicated, sweet and helpful people. The food was a chapter in itself and Marianne wanted us to have a good time. Lots of homemade delicacies. Cozy little town - Takaka nearby. Roots café is a must. Retro all the way to the fingertips - wonderful atmosphere. We say thank you very much🙏 and send loving greetings and thoughts to Marianne and René. Ole and Inger from Denmark

Everything here is just perfect. The hosts are incredibly friendly and helpful, the room is beautiful with a large bathroom, there's a spacious common room, a hot tub, and so much more. Plus, they serve not only the best breakfast in New Zealand, but perhaps even the best in the world if you appreciate freshly prepared food. In the evenings, you can optionally order Italian pizza from a Dutch chef. Absolutely delicious! This accommodation is truly worth every penny. We also highly recommend the optional farm tour.
