Make A Knife offers a full-day blacksmithing activity at Higgins Park, just outside Wakefield, where participants forge a knife from raw steel using a traditional forge, hammer and anvil. Sessions run 8.15am to 4.00pm, include lunch from Wakefield Bakery, and require no prior experience. The cost is $225 per person, and booking is essential; children must be 13 or older with adult supervision.
Great day out my sons and I enjoyed the experience and left with knives we were happy with. Good instruction and guidance from Simon

A fantastic day, what an amazing experience. If you're not capable of some of the processes, Simon will step in and do them for you. He wants you to leave with a knife that you are really happy with. He is a very organized man. Great lunch. A great day, I would do it again in a heartbeat.

An incredible experience! It was fantastic to go through the entire process of crafting my own knife from start to finish. From forging and hammering the steel to shaping, every step was hands-on. Simon was super nice, guided me throughout every steps. I can imagine using my knife for my entire life. Highly recommended!! Btw the pie and sausage roll lunch were amazing as well!

Awesome experience. It was a great experience to work through the whole process, start to finish, crafting my own knife. Forging and hammering down the steel, shaping and grinding down the knife, and crafting or tying a handle. End product is relatively customisable to what you want to make. Worth the price.
