Mapua Leisure Park is a holiday park at 33 Toru Street, Māpua, bordering the Waimea estuary and Tasman Bay. It offers powered and non-powered camping sites, cabins, chalets, and beachfront motel units across more than 20 acres. On-site facilities include tennis courts, a sauna, a swimming pool, and BBQ areas. The park allows clothing-optional stays each February and March, a policy unique among New Zealand holiday parks.
We read a lot of reviews before taking the plunge and deciding to have a look. We were pleasantly surprised. Yes it is a little run down here and there, however we found it clean and comfortable and so relaxing. The off peak, stay for 3 nights, pay for 2 was a bonus and so was the Sauna, and then cold plunge in Crystal clear pool and its location, location, location! Reminded me of camping in the 70s. Its the old saying don't judge a book by its cover. Definitely great for motorhomes, the choices of where to park are unlimited. Give it a go.

Great spot. Perfect and quiet for myself and a child. Tidy but older facilities. Awesome walk into town.

Fantastic waterfront camping and just a 10 minute walk to the wharf. Best time to go is February/March, when it becomes the only clothing optional campground in NZ...which makes the swimming so much better! 😁
