Orange Mechanical is a family-owned mechanical repair business in Tākaka, operating since 1983. It services passenger cars, farm machinery and heavy or earth-moving vehicles, and assists roadside contractors including the Automobile Association in the Golden Bay area. The workshop also runs Golden Bay Tow & Salvage, offering 24-hour vehicle recovery and towing across the Tasman region, with an onsite lock-up yard for retrieved vehicles.

Thank you Michael and team for towing our Subaru Outback late on a Sunday night. We were stranded in Pohara and even though our engine gasket exploded, they went above and beyond. This is who Orange is: we were stranded in Pohara with no taxis or Ubers available, needing to get back home to Christchurch to work in the Hospital the next day, and basically found out the next morning with 30 minutes to go that there was a bus from Tekaka to Nelson and last minute, on a whim I called Orange to ask if they might be able to give us a ride to the bus since we were stranded and needed to pick up a rental car in Nelson to get home…they were at our place in 5 minutes to pick us up! They didn’t have to do that at all but they did, and ontop of that are mailing us all the belongings we left in the car. This is above and beyond the hospitality and kindness I have ever encountered from a tow truck/mechanic business and it is just a testament to how great these people are. Thank you for your help!

Dropped in whilst on holiday to ask a question about a starting issue. Literally within two minutes, a mechanic had a better tester attached and was running a diagnosis. He discovered a loose battery terminal so suggested this would be the first thing to remedy. Offered to tighten it for me however I had tools on board. Would not accept any payment. Both mechanic and very knowledgeable office manager were helpful and great to deal with. Superb service. Highly recommended.

Thanks to Mike & the team at Orange Mechanical for helping get my car that had been stolen from Nelson and dumped in Takaka, back up & running and delivered back to Nelson. Appreciate it!
