About

Rabbit Island Coffee Co. is a family-owned specialty coffee roastery on Māpua Wharf, run by Bryn and Carley Lloyd. Beans are roasted onsite and sourced through direct-trade partners who ensure fair pay at origin. The current range covers everyday blends and single origins from Ethiopia, Colombia and Timor-Leste, all roasted to work as both espresso and filter. The site also houses an artisan pantry stocking handcrafted goods from local producers.

It's rare to find great filter coffee (or single origin in general) in the South Island, but this cafe is an exception. Had a fantastic brew here alongside carefully considered and well stocked specialty coffee supplies. Truly up there with the best. Do yourself a favor and get a brew here! Thanks team.

Wonderful coffee spot in Mapua with filter coffee, pour-over, and an excellent selection of freshly roast beans. They even went and filled a bag roasted that morning to ensure we had the freshest coffee possible. Highly recommend!

We buy pods for our machine at home from Rabbit Island Coffee. Best coffee! The taste is fresh and barista quality, not bitter like some other pods. Highly recommended and great to support local and made in NZ!
