Riuwaka Resurgence

Short easy undulating walk on a well formed pathway for 300m. Quite a few steps towards the end, but easy enough. Amazing how fast the river is flowing out of the mountain. There is a swimming hole near the carpark, which would be great in summer. Toilets at carpark, also a picnic area.

Beautiful little walk 5 minutes from the car park up to the source of the river. In summer its a great place to have a dip in the water and refresh.Be warned the water is very cold. If your brave you could take a winters dip.

Awesome short walk in the Motueka area. Always a cool temp so great in the middle of summer. Very chilly water if youre going for a swim and its the same temp year round so always cold. The cave is very cool inside but only go in there with experienced cavers as it is a massive cave and can be very easy to get lost. A great ride up the valley too on the bike.

There's a sign to a swimming area. The water is chilly but lovely. Although it looks fun, kids jumping off the rocks into the rapids further up, it spoils the peace of a sacred place for everyone else. The trees and ferns around are also stunning.

This isn't super well known judging by the lack of people when we were there, but it might be in my top 10 spots on the South Island. (That's saying a lot. We've just spent almost 4 weeks here.) It's magical in its beauty and serenity.
