About

Sam's Creek is a conservation area in the Upper Tākaka Valley, upstream from Te Waikoropupū Springs and adjacent to Kahurangi National Park. Siren Gold sought a license to mine gold ore there; in May 2026 New Zealand Petroleum and Minerals declined the application. Since 2024, Save Our Springs and local supporters have campaigned for Sam's Creek to be included within Kahurangi National Park.

The most beautiful spot to stop for a rest to refresh in the cool clear water and feel the energy of the Elements revitalise your mind, body and soul. What a pure water system that feeds the aquifier in the Valley below. How lucky the residents of that Valley are to have access to some of the cleanest clearest water in the world, a very rare and precious thing these days...way more precious than gold.

We are so very fortunate to live in a country where we still have and revere sacred spaces such as this. Currently under threat of being destroyed by mining so see it before the Australian Mining Company ruins it
