Rated 4.9 for a reason because WOW haha. The pies are so unbelievably good, best in NZ by far. Ordered the lamb and then had to turn around and get a second one (steak&mushroom) and both amazing. We also ordered a coffee and a Bakewell slice which makes us sad to have to leave this small town as we probably won’t find anywhere nicer for a stop off. This man knows how to bake. Everything we just had has been the best in NZ.

I had a great customer service experience at Tutaki bakery. I couldn’t decide on a pie and he then asked me a series of questions which led me to the delish steak and mushroom pie. The pastry was the right amount of flaky 🤤 There were multiple options for vegetarians which is so nice to see. Very reasonably priced to get a pie and a soft drink for $10.90.

Delicious lamb pie with feta and great seasoning, creamy pastry and great coffee. You can see that Lee is a guy that knows what he's doing, and he does it well and with passion. Well I feel like I am quite the pie connoisseur.... these are flipping amazing. NEXT LEVEL PIES! The main focus is the lovingly hand made fillings and not having super thick tasteless pastry. They have perfect crunchy thin pastry and jam packed gourmet fillings. I bought 2x and I want more! I had the Lamb and also the Corned Beef. I will be in a good mood for the rest of today. This is a tiny stand alone bakery situated in the open public space just beside the Murchison District Museum along Fairfax Street. Tutaki specialises in savoury pies with a nice selection of meat and a couple of veggie pie options to go along other traditional bakery products, sandwiches and coffees. Opening times are 9.30am to 2pm (closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays). Mostly a take-away setup but there are a few tables and benches nearby if you want to have a seat outside to enjoy their pies and drinks. We passed by during a recent visit to Murchison and tried their Moroccan Chickpea pie and found it to be really good, a nicely North African flavoured pie, packed with chickpea, cauliflower rice and bit of pumpkin. Service was very friendly, prices very reasonable for the quality of the pie served. Would gladly pass by again for another go with the Moroccan Chickpea pie and would be happy to try others based on this experience.
