Via Ferrata Takaka Hill

Awesome experience! Even more so being free to access. Just had to hire gear. $25 for the day from Gear Shop in Richmond. Did both routes. The Cliff Conqueror was definitely a step up with the vertical sections and overhanging ladders. Sitting on the seat bolted to the cliff was a bit unnerving. But great fun. Great views. Went on a Thursday and had the place to myself.

Amazing via ferrata! Hiring equipment was easy and super affordable. The climbs themselves were super fun! A lot of diverse elements and you can build up in difficulty. Amazing views all around! As someone who has done different via ferrata’s in Europe this was great. Thanks to the people who build it and are still adding stuff! Definitely recommend doing this via ferrata when around :)

Wicked cool experience. Rented gear from the caves for $10. No reservations just showed up when it opened. There are two tracks. The difference in difficulty between them is palpable. The cliff Conquerer requires much more arm strength. There are ladders hanging off the cliff. Crazy.

My favourite activity close to Nelson, and it's free. It is really well signposted and easy to follow the instructions. Both routes are a lot of fun, am hoping for more routes in the future :)

Amazing experience, probably my favourite for the region. Great short "learning" route to get you ready and then onto the two main routes. Neither route is a standard "walking" Via Ferrata, they both require some climbing via the holds, but that made them both much more exciting!
