Such an amazing and interesting place where you can come and dress up and feel like you are taken back right into the 1800's with friendly staff and so many activities for the kids and things to see.

Cool place to get into some olden day clothes, have a wander around some old buildings, use a dial telephone and have a scones. Great time had by all.

This place is a hidden gem. We visited the Heritage Village on Friday morning and were lucky enough to experience their Alice in Wonderland High Tea event. It was truly next level—easily one of the best themed events we’ve ever attended. The way they’ve preserved historical moments and artefacts is outstanding, and the attention to detail in every aspect was incredible. The food was amazing — 10/10 without a doubt. The village itself is beautifully laid out, with fascinating spaces like the medical shop, barber shop, school, laundry, bookstore, and more. Each area has a wonderful collection of historical items that really bring the past to life. The gardens are very well maintained and add to the charm of the whole place. I highly recommend visiting, especially in the afternoon. It’s only about a 30-minute drive from Nelson city and absolutely worth the trip.

We had a lovely Christmas High Tea with our dear MIL Eileen who is 94. Most enjoyable experience. The Heritage Village is a favorite of ours.

What a wonderful place to explore & reminisce in. Very welcoming, friendly people with clear passion for the place. (Most are volunteers I believe) We liked the ‘trust factor’ accessibility, with opportunities to immerse or interact. Partner also enjoyed the bike ride out & I enjoyed the scones, jam & cream. Definitely will go back & potter about again (& take visitors) Show your support by visiting.. whether you are local or ‘passing through’ the region. Historic places & passionate people need us to visit ..especially so our next generations get to enjoy our past too.
