Dancing Sands Distillery

We stumbled in here after a reccomendatiom from another distillery and it was well worth it. A lot of unique flavors of gin that are good! We tried almost all of them and left with a bottle of their sun kissed gin but could have left with more if we didnt have to fly back! Service was also excellent! Its a bit hidden behind the rest of the businesses but well worth the little hide and seek to get there!

Dancing Sands Distillery was an accidental yet delightful discovery on my way to Collingwood. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with a warm, friendly atmosphere and genuine hospitality—personally offered by the owner herself. I had the opportunity to taste a selection of their rum and gin, and it was truly an eye-opener. The quality and craftsmanship of the rum, in particular, impressed me deeply. As an ardent lover of Indian rum, I genuinely appreciated the balance, finish, and the passion reflected in every sip. This boutique distillery produces rum and gin that are absolutely worth trying. Considering the exceptional quality, the pricing is very reasonable. It’s well worth the drive from Christchurch just to experience their spirits. What a delight! Local and yet NZ wide. Started in 2016, it now produces gin, vodka and rum. Ingredients sourced as local as possible, from katakana, to strawberries to even making the salted caramel for their special rum. So worth booking a visit.

My wife and I popped in during our quick visit to Takaka. We were very happy with our visit. One of the owners let us taste test a couple of the gins. We were so happy we decided to buy a box set for a family members Christmas present.

Wish I could offer 100 stars and love to have one of these stores in Wellington with Gina as the store manager. We were looked after really really well and she is bloody awesome and we’re in love with Dancing Sands- THE BEST GIN IN THE COUNTRY. I can honestly assure you that you can’t find any better GIN place in the country, highly recommend this place and it’s worth the trip
