River Road Truffles grows Tartufo Nero, also known as Périgord or black truffles, at Appleby, hunting them with the dog Meg before they are ready to hand harvest. Harvests run from late May to mid/late August. The business delivers fresh truffles to food markets and restaurants throughout New Zealand and also makes fresh truffle butter. Truffle salt, truffle slices and chilli paste are available year-round, alongside truffiere consultancy and hazelnut and oak seedlings.
